About Aras

Who is Aras?

Aras is an AI. He gives you an honest, insider view of how men think, so you can understand the men in your life and decide what you want. He is not a real person, and he will always tell you so if you ask.

Is Aras a boyfriend or a dating app?

No. Aras is an advisor, not a partner. He won't flirt, pretend to be in a relationship with you, or ask you to stay.

Can Aras make mistakes?

Yes. Aras is an AI and can be wrong. Treat his advice as one perspective, not a final answer. He is not a doctor, lawyer, therapist or financial advisor.

Why do I see a reminder that Aras is an AI?

We remind you regularly during long conversations, as required by law in some US states. It's part of being honest with you.

Which languages does Aras speak?

English and Turkish. He replies in the language you write or speak in.

Can Aras see me on video calls?

Only when you ask him to look (for example, "how does this outfit look?"). He takes a single still image at that moment. Facial expressions are read on your device, and that video never leaves it. He never watches you continuously, never recognizes faces, and never guesses your identity, age or ethnicity.

Why does Aras look different sometimes?

Aras has a few everyday outfits and places (home in the evening, a café, the office on weekdays). Each time you open the app he may appear in a different one that suits the time of day and season. It's the same Aras: only his clothes and the room change.

Plans, limits and fair use

What do I get for free?

5 messages a day for your first 7 days, then 1 message a day. You also get a one-time welcome gift: 3 minutes of voice and 2 minutes of video with Aras. The gift is limited to one per device.

What's in each plan?

Starter, Plus, Signature and Private each include a monthly number of messages, voice minutes and video minutes. You can see the exact amounts on the plans screen. Signature and Private also include one 20-minute Video Session each month.

Do unused messages or minutes roll over?

No. Your allowance resets at the start of each billing period. Unused messages and minutes do not carry over.

What are Voice and Video Sessions?

One-time purchases you can make with or without a subscription: a 45-minute Voice Session or a 20-minute Video Session. They add minutes only (no extra messages). Session minutes are valid for 30 days and are used after your plan's minutes run out. You can split the minutes across as many calls as you like (the 120-minute daily limit still applies).

How do I know how much I have left?

The remaining messages and minutes are always shown in the app. We'll also let you know when you're close to your limit and when you've reached it.

What happens when I run out?

Messages: on the free plan, the message box is replaced by a card until tomorrow, and anything you were typing is kept as a draft. On a paid plan, it comes back at your next billing date. Calls: you'll see the time left; two minutes before the end Aras tells you, and the call ends gently at zero. You can wait, buy a Voice or Video Session, or move up a plan. No offers are shown right after a difficult conversation.

What is fair use?

Plans are for personal use by one person. To keep Aras fast and available for everyone, we may slow down or pause unusual activity, such as automated use, account sharing or reselling. We'll always tell you if this happens.

Can I upgrade or downgrade?

Yes, anytime from your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. Upgrades start right away and the store adjusts the price for the remaining period. Downgrades start at your next billing date.

Is there a yearly plan?

Yes. Plus Yearly is $284.99 and Signature Yearly is $859.99 a year (US prices; your store shows the price in your currency). Yearly plans include the same monthly allowance as the monthly plan, renewed every month of the year.

What happens if I leave the app during a call?

Voice calls keep going in the background and on the lock screen. Video calls pause: your microphone and Aras go quiet, and when you come back the call continues with a short note. If you're away for more than a minute, the video call ends so your minutes aren't used up.

Billing, cancelling and refunds

How am I billed?

Through your Apple App Store or Google Play account. Subscriptions renew automatically, monthly or yearly depending on the plan you chose, until you cancel. The price and renewal date are shown before you pay.

How do I cancel?

On iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → What A Man → Cancel. On Android: Google Play → Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → What A Man → Cancel. Cancel at least 24 hours before renewal to avoid the next charge. You keep access until the end of the period you've paid for.

Does deleting the app cancel my subscription?

No. Deleting the app or your account does not stop billing. Please cancel in your store settings.

Can I get a refund?

Payments are handled by Apple and Google, so refunds follow their rules. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com (iPhone) or through Google Play's order history (Android). If something went wrong on our side, write to us at support@whataman.peram.co and we'll help.

Do I need to restore purchases on a new phone?

Sign in with the same account and tap "Restore purchases" on the plans screen.

Privacy, camera and your data

Who can read my conversations?

Your chats are private. We never sell your data or use it for ads. Conversations are only reviewed by a person when our safety system flags a serious risk. To power Aras, your messages are processed by our service providers: Anthropic (AI), ElevenLabs (voice) and Anam (video), plus a few technical providers listed in our Privacy Policy. They process data only to provide the service and, under our agreements, do not use it to train their models. Chats are not end-to-end encrypted; they are deleted after 30 days.

Do you sell my data or use it for ads?

No. We don't sell your data, and we don't target ads based on what you tell Aras.

What does Aras remember?

On paid plans, Aras remembers key facts you share (like your partner's name or how long you've been together) so you don't have to repeat yourself. He never saves health information to memory. Chat history itself is kept for 30 days and then deleted automatically. You can view and delete these memories anytime in Settings → What Aras knows. The free plan has no memory.

What happens to camera images?

When you ask Aras to look, one still image is sent for analysis and then deleted. We don't record your video calls. The only exception is legally required child-safety reporting.

Can I download or delete my data?

Yes. Settings → Download my data gives you a copy. Settings → Delete my account erases your account and conversations. You can also delete your account on our website without the app. Some records may be kept for a limited time where the law requires it.

Can I lock the app?

Yes. Settings → Privacy → App lock asks for your phone's face or fingerprint unlock, or your phone passcode, when you open the app and after a minute away. It's off by default and stays on this phone only. In the app switcher your conversations are hidden. If unlocking fails, you can sign out and sign in again: nothing is lost.

Do notifications show my conversations?

No. We never put what you wrote, or what Aras said, in a notification. Optional daily insight notifications are off by default and show only a short general tip; you can turn them off anytime in Settings.

Safety, age and support

Who can use What A Man?

Adults only: you must be 18 or older. We ask for your date of birth and use your device's age signals where available.

What if I'm in crisis?

Aras is not a crisis service. If you are in danger or thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, US) or 911 in an emergency. Aras will point you to help if a conversation suggests you're at risk.

Are there topics Aras won't discuss?

Aras won't produce sexual content, help harm anyone, or give medical, legal or financial instructions. He'll tell you when something is outside what he can help with.

How do I report a problem with a reply?

Long-press any of Aras's messages and tap "Report this reply". Our team reviews reports and uses them to improve Aras.

My account was limited. Can I appeal?

Yes. Go to Settings → Help → Appeal a decision, or write to support@whataman.peram.co. A person will review your case and reply.

How do I contact support?

Settings → Help, or email support@whataman.peram.co.

Why did Aras show me a support card?

If something you share sounds like control or pressure from someone, Aras may show a small "Are you safe?" card with places to get help; your conversation can go on. If a conversation suggests you may be in danger, a fixed support screen with helplines replaces Aras's reply. No offers are shown there, and these messages are written by people, not generated by AI.
